First of all, this isnât a sourced article even though some of it is based on things Iâve heard and know.
So thatâs why Iâm only saying Chelsea âprobablyâ wont sell Marc Cucurella this summer because I havenât yet been told categorically that they wont (Iâve not even asked). The reality is, heâs not for sale. Chelsea have no intentions of selling him this summer and I donât even need to ask on it – I can say that without having the info, as my opinion.
But as we all know, there are only a few players at Chelsea who are considered indispensable and they will not even listen to offers for, Cucurella isnât one of those. Thatâs not saying they will sell him, and for them to even listen it would have to be silly money. So, heâs not being sold this summer, I am convinced of that.
However, next summer may bring a different conversation.
In the summer of 2026, Cucurella will be 28 and have two years left on his contract. It would probably be the last time Chelsea will be able to get a good fee for him and they wont exactly be offering him a long new extension at that age. I think this will become a serious option for all parties.
On the player side, and this is info from sources, Cucurella still has a desire to play back in Spain again before he retires. So maybe this could be that moment. He has interest from the majority of La Ligaâs top clubs. Also, Saudi want to bring him over there.
Nothing will happen this summer in my opinion, Chelsea and Cucurella are both clearly planning with each other into the new season. But Iâd not be at all surprised to see him move on next summer.
But anyway, this is all speculation of course because a lot can happen in a year and itâs a long way off. But itâs an interesting bit of chatter off the back of Cristiano Ronaldo apparently telling Al Nassr to sign Cucurella this window. Not happening pal, but you can have Robert Sanchez instead? Not as much hair but Iâm sure heâd be a sound left back. If Cucurella decided to push for it then maybe itâs possible, but thereâs nothing at all right now to suggest that he would.
Cucurella is a hugely important player for Chelsea right now and he has really turned things around. In a young squad, he will be massively essential for Chelsea going into the new season as one of the more experienced players.
I do expect him to be challenged a lot more this season though with Jorrel Hato (hopefully) coming in.
