Newcastle push for Jacob Ramsey

According to multiple sources, Newcastle are pushing hard to sign Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa. The two clubs are currently negotiating and progress has been made on several points in the last two days. The Magpies haven’t yet submitted an official offer, but it is expected to happen very soon.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is believed to be a long-term admirer of the 24-year-old, who represented England at every youth level but is yet to earn a senior cap. Howe sees Ramsey as a very suitable candidate to fill the void left by the sale of Sean Longstaff to Leeds.

West Ham are also thought to be interested, but Newcastle have come a lot further in the race and there is confidence on Tyneside about the transfer getting done soon.

Though a midfielder by trade, most of Ramsey’s 46 appearances for Aston Villa last season in all competitions came on the left attacking flank. He scored four goals and contributed seven assists.
